Saturday Stuff

This is the ad that Coke and Pepsi don’t want you to see during the big game tomorrow (gosh, I thought our glorious system of free enterprise in this country “lifted all boats.” Color me shocked!)…

…and I gotta tell ya’, if I was cheesed off at the NRA before, that’s nothing compared to how I feel now – I didn’t even make their enemies list!!! (here, and more from C&L here)…

…and happy 71st birthday to Graham Nash

…and as long as I’m putting up a video having to do with English graybeards, I might as well include this guy too : -).

Friday Stuff

(I also posted here.)

Here is last night’s Rachel Maddow feature on the exchanges between McCain and Hagel at the latter’s confirmation hearing for defense secretary – I can’t think of a word to describe how pathetic it is for any politician to still be defending the Iraq war at this point, but this is where we still are…

…and I now give you satire worthy of Stanley Kubrick from Bryan Fischer (here, in response to Louisiana Governor Bobby “Don’t Call Me Piyush” Jindal’s speech about the Republicans being the “stupid” party, which is perfectly accurate…yes, I know that Fischer is pond scum and not particularly amusing; we need to shed light on these miseries, however, to help them eventually shrivel away into dust)…

…and it’s a good thing Stephen Colbert is so damn funny; the problem is that there are some conservatives who take him seriously I’m sure (here)…

…and happy belated birthday to Phil Collins – I’ve been looking for an excuse for this tune, so I’ll take this (one of my favorite Genesis songs).

Thursday Stuff

Rachel Maddow had a good commentary on this disgusting farce tonight that I hope to have here tomorrow; it’s all because of that Kenyan Muslim Socialist in the White House as far as the Repugs are concerned.

I’m tired of giving John McCain a pass because he was a POW. At this point, he’s a doddering old man who should have a hot toddy, go fall down in a corner somewhere and take a nap…

…and this should have been the lead story on every newscast in this country the day it took place; kudos to David Wheeler, and I truly grieve for his loss…

…and RIP the Obama “jobs” council, much ado about not a hell of a lot (here) – not totally his fault, though; Heaven forbid that the “pay no price, bear no burden” bunch have to endure any hardship at all to finance actual jobs legislation…

…and I don’t think there’s such a thing as a bad time to hear this song.

Wednesday Stuff

(I also posted some stuff here.)

And now, some words from an individual who, as far as I’m concerned, holds a doctorate in the courage of which she speaks (here)…

…and from the courageous to the utterly gutless, I give you this (here)…

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

…and I was going to put up kind of a funny video, but at the moment I don’t have much of a sense of humor, particularly after looking at this set of pics at The Huffington Post which speaks volumes as far as I’m concerned…

…and I keep hearing this song online, and it’s just too good to ignore, so here it is.

Tuesday Stuff

Ten years ago yesterday, the White House of Former President Highest Disapproval Rating In Gallup Poll History alleged that Saddam Hussein was trying to buy yellowcake from Niger in pursuit of WMD, as I recall; George W. Bush said this during his 2003 State of the Union address, one of the grossest, most sickening displays of wall-to-wall lies ever seen by mankind (and dear God, I hope I never see anything like it again…former ambassador Joe Wilson talks here about the guilty verdict handed down to "Scooter" Libby, who was the bag man in the White House's effort to smear Wilson and Valerie Plame in response to calling out our prior ruling cabal on their BS - this loops into other related videos at about 9:52, by the way)…

…and as far as I’m concerned, this song is more than a bit apropos for former President Nutball.

Monday Stuff

John Fugelsang and Stephanie Miller of Current TV provide probably the best analysis I’ve heard to date on the exchange between Secretary of State John Kerry and Teahadist Ron Johnson during Kerry’s confirmation hearing - yep, the Repugs just love allegedly bogus intel, unless they own it of course, which they usually do…

…and speaking of Kerry, he also schooled that numbskull John Barrasso with the latter’s ridiculously leading question on clean energy (here – these words should be heard by every…person…in…this…nation)…

…and leave it to Martin Bashir to provide some reality-based commentary on the fact that Congress has FINALLY approved relief for Hurricane Sandy (ably assisted by Dem rep Joe Crowley)…

…and in these parts, we’re mourning the loss of a true boomer icon, and that would be Alleen Mae Beller of Kansas City, Missouri, otherwise known as Sally Starr; your humble narrator spent many joyful mornings in front of the TV watching her and cartoons galore, back when a parent could put a child in front of the idiot box and a surrogate parent of sorts would impart life lessons of a fashion while mom and dad were busy working or tending to household chores, and said parent didn’t have to worry about too many obnoxious promos for toys, movies, other obnoxious shows, etc. – I’m not sure it’s possible to truly measure the happiness she brought to so many lives (sorry if this sounds maudlin, but it’s the truth…what follows is a video with her novelty hit record from way back when).

Sunday Stuff

I give you the following from the pages of today’s New York Times (here); as you can see, the National Rifle Association is doing its part to make sure we have an ever-widening pool of kids from whom we can expect, with statistical certainty I’m sure, the next Jared Loughner or James Holmes…

…which makes Bill Maher’s final “New Rule” from Friday all the more timely IMHO…

…oh, and by the way, anyone in the mood for a “relationship” song? Well, here it is anyway.
